21 May - Santa Fe New Mexico

After a good night's rest, Raven and I are ready for a morning of exploring the town.  A quick southwestern of huevos rancheros fills the tummy.  The weather remains quite inviting.  The skies are clear and the temperature is still comfortable.

We start our exploration at the Santa Fe Railyards.

Map of the railyards

The railyards have now been turned into an area for an open market, art galleries, retail businesses, and station area for passenger trains.  Raven and I start our walk.  We'd like to explore the open air market but unlike the markets in the Pacific Northwest, no dogs are allowed. Too bad, it would have been fun.  Their loss.  We walk a short distance and what do you think we find?  Why of course, one of our favorite things.  Would you believe trains in a railyard.  Cool!!

It's not steam, but it's still cool.

New Mexico's version of the road runner, the Rail Runner.

All aboard.

And another love, old cars and trucks.

A few words about the truck and the area.

What else to see?  Well after all Santa Fe is the capital of the state of New Mexico so let's go find the capitol building.

The capitol building.

It's not architecturally like most state capitol buildings I've been to.  Clean and modern in design.  The building is circular.  Senate on one side, house on the other, and the halls connecting them are lined with wonderful local art.

Lots of retail shops with local art and products.

Just a few cool shop signs

I wonder if the food makes a nuclear explosion after it settles in your tummy?

Mmmm chocolate.  I was good.  I resisted going in.

Toy story.  I loved it.

I love the bright colors.

We will leave you for now and catch up with you soon as we go exploring the area outside of Santa Fe city limits.  Thanks again for following us.
