18 May - Lake Powell AZ to Mesa Verde National Park, CO

Morning seems to come early on the road.  The date and day of the week are long gone and the time of the day doesn't seem all that important.  Mostly, it's early to bed and early to rise.  What was that?  "It makes you healthy, wealthy, and wise".  I think that has passed me bye too.

Ready to leave Wahweap Campground at Lake Powell

The view as we leave.  It's a beautiful morning.

The plan for the day Page AZ to Mesa Verde CO

From Lake Powell it's a short drive through Page AZ and on to our next stop at Glen Canyon Dam.

As we head east the drive is long but the scenery is amazing.  I'm so glad not to be travelling on the interstate highways.  There's little traffic and the roads are surprisingly in better condition than most interstates.  Not much more to say, just enjoy the beauty as I have seen it. The following monuments and scenes are from along the highway heading east from Arizona to Colorado.

I thought the tumbleweed along the fence was cool

Next stop is the Four Corners Monument.  It is the location where you can stand in four states at the same time, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The flags of the four states and the indian nation

"We meet in freedom under God four states"

Marking the meeting of the four states.

Around the perimeter of the monument were numerous natives selling their crafts.  I chose to sample the "Indian Bread".  It was yummy.  Raven enjoyed it too.

We made it to Colorado

And were welcomed by the Ute Tribe

More views, now in Colorado

Mesa Verde National Park

The drive and the views through the park are beautiful.  There are many ruins within the park.  All but two are guided.  We chose to do the self directed tour at Spruce Tree House.  Photos from this hike follow:

There ends our touring for today.  It's off to get settled at the RV park and scout out some dinner.
